Today is the day! Back by popular demand, Mon-Fri, I will be highlighting #BlackHistoryMonth through nail art for my Nails At First Sight series. Over the next first few days, I will be paying tribute to black women who inspire our culture. What better way to begin this series than to feature a fellow Haitian woman! Born and raised in Haiti, @findingpaola is a creative on so many levels. She is a visual storyteller through vibrant colors and poetic words with an eclectic sense of personal style. She is also the founder of @fanmdjanm which celebrates the strength and sisterhood of ethnic women. Servicing young girls and young women for over 10 years, @the_girls_circle was founded by Jamaican born community leader and decorated LCSW Michelle Jervis. The Girls Circle (soon to be named Girls Mentor Girls) was created as a supportive and safe space to connect young girls within Bronx underserved communities. Guided by Michelle, these girls are afforded the opportunity to envision their future differently and outside the box through peer mentoring, education, experiential learning, career building workshops and community.
